Why am I getting vaccinated?

FAIRLAND – Youth aged between 18 to 34 years old have eligible for vaccinations for some time now. We find out why they elected to get vaccinated.

As of August 20, vaccination registration was open to 18 to 34 year olds.

There are many youth in our varying communities that have elected to get vaccinated. The Northcliff Melville Times headed to Brandcliff House Private School to speak to some matric learners to find out why they have chosen to get vaccinated.

Here is what they had to say:

THAAKIR PECK: Right now I am a bit sceptical about the vaccine but I think I might get it in the near future if everything looks okay and all the other people who got vaccinated are still okay. Photo: Neo Phashe
SHEHKIRA GUERINI: I think it is important to vaccinate so that we can all gain immunity to Covid-19. Also, to be able to help society by not spreading the virus more than what has already been spread. Photo: Neo Phashe
KEEGAN VAN ROOYEN: At first, I was scared to get vaccinated but my dad just recently got his second jab and he said it’s completely worth it and the pain is not too bad. Maybe once everyone is vaccinated, we could remove the masks. I also want to travel, the tourism industry is shutting down because of this [Covid-19] and I want to aid society. Photo: Neo Phashe
SINE SITHOLE: I want to go study abroad and you cannot enter other countries without being vaccinated. I feel like whilst we still have the choice to vaccinate, we should, as it’s much better that way. The vaccine will help our immune systems against the variants and hopefully, someday, we will have the cure. Photo: Neo Phashe
