A celebration of 34 years of service

VICTORY PARK – De La Salle Holy Cross College held a retirement celebration for one of longest-serving staff member.

De La Salle Holy Cross College bid farewell to one of its longest-serving staff members, who, after 34 years in service of the school, retired.

At his farewell celebration, which was held at the school on September 10, Simon Baloyi was celebrated by his wife, Martha, family, colleagues, management and staff.

Simon joined the school in 1987 as part of a very small team and, over the years became an invaluable member of the school’s family. Many tributes were paid to him, which illustrated how he earned the respect and love of all those he worked with. He received a jubilant send-off of singing and a standing ovation from balconies all around the school.

School principal Debbie Harris said, “Today we give thanks for our longest-serving member of staff, Simon Baloyi. He has truly lived our school motto, ‘Be First That You May be of Service’, for 34 years and is a true inspiration to us all. We wish Simon a peaceful and happy retirement with his precious family.”
