Reclaimers are shown their value
BRIXTON – Organisations come together to impact the lives of reclaimers positively.
Recently, two organisations, Food Circles 108 and the African Reclaimers Organisation, distributed food parcels to about 40 reclaimers in Brixton.
This gesture is said to have come at a time when food security had been interrupted by riots in the country which left reclaimers unable to secure food from their usual stores in the communities.
On the same day, as part of an ongoing initiative to vaccinate reclaimers, African Reclaimers Organisation Solidarity Group members within Brixton assisted reclaimers to register for vaccination. Reclaimers have since learnt a lot form the residents about the vaccines and where to access them.
This has since created awareness among reclaimers on the importance of vaccination. Brixton and Auckland Park residents are encouraged to continue to engage with reclaimers one may find on the street about the importance of them getting vaccinated.
