Established in 2002 by owner Jimmy Gill, Ghazal North Indian Restaurant offers spectacular North Indian cuisine coupled with stylish décor, superb service and a warm ambience at two locations in Johannesburg – Melrose Arch and Bryanston.
Focused on North Indian cuisine with a sensational spice balance, the menu spans tandoori, chicken, lamb, vegetable and seafood dishes. With Jimmy having grown up in North India near the foothills of the Himalayas and immigrated to South Africa in 2002, the menu is an ode to the owners’ culinary journeys; a highlight reel combining the best of their experiences. What’s more, we pride ourselves on using only the finest ingredients and the best spices that India has to offer.
Feast on the dazzling diversity of North India’s culinary reach at Ghazal North Indian Restaurant in Melrose Arch or Bryanston. Popular dishes include samosas, onion bhaji, pakoras and lamb shish kebabs for starters, followed by tandoori chicken, lamb rogan josh or chicken or lamb curry, vindaloo, palak or korma for mains – to be enjoyed with assorted crispy, buttery rotis or soft, charry naan bread from the clay oven.
For small appetites, there are starters including deep-fried onion bhajis, spicy lamb shish kebabs and tender chicken tikka, but if you’re here to conquer the menu, order a full-sized dish with as many starters on the side as you can eat.
Headlining fixtures from the menu include the rich, mellow dhal; the dense chicken korma; the moist, chunky traditionally prepared lamb curry; and the queen prawns in a complex masala, which is a must for prawn lovers. A wide selection of vegetable and seafood specialities, along with salads and raita, are also available. This is completed by a stellar wine list of local and international wines.
Please note that our Melrose Arch restaurant also offers daily specials from 12:00 to 15:00 every Monday to Friday, as well as a weekend lunch buffet from 12:00 to 16:00 every Saturday and Sunday.
