Donate old handbags and change a life
LINDEN – Chic Mamas Do Care Jozi is asking you to donate your bags so they can help children.
Chic Mamas Do Care Jozi, a charity shop, is currently running a handbag drive asking community members to donate bags which they would then sell to support their various projects.
This non-profit organisation sells pre-loved, high-quality clothing to assist charities and projects that are involved in early childhood development.
The Linden-based foundation is passionate about children and education as well as recycling and upcycling. So far they have managed to collect quite a few handbags but they are still seeking more from those willing to donate. “Handbags sell really well in our store, therefore creating sales so we can donate to our education projects,” explained manager Karen Harvey.
Harvey said handbags that were not in good condition would be filled with sanitary products as well as bras to give to charity, Kindness Like Confetti, which will then distribute them to girls in need in other communities.
Though this initiative started in light of Mandela Day, it will continue throughout the month of August, giving people ample time to positively impact the lives of children in communities less fortunate than theirs.
