Police look to apprehend weekend murder suspects

BRIXTON – Manhunt launched to find unknown suspects involved in weekend murders and attempted murders.

Police investigate fatal shootings of three men and a woman in two separate incidents.

Brixton police are adamant that no stone will be left unturned in their hunt for answers surrounding the deaths of four individuals between 23 and 24 April. According to the station’s spokesperson Jeanette Backhoff, they have mobilised maximum resources to get to the bottom of four murders and three attempted murder cases in Slovo Park informal settlement in the Brixton policing precinct.
She explained, “On the evening of 23 April 2021, a resident of the informal settlement alerted police to a shooting incident after hearing the sound of multiple gunshots. On investigation, police found near his home the bodies of two male victims aged between 24 and 30, while the third injured victim aged 24 was rushed to hospital but was declared dead on arrival. A fourth victim is in a critical condition in hospital.”

The second incident took place on the next evening where ‘a team of paramedics were directed by the residents of Slovo Park to a shack where they allegedly found a 24-year old woman fatally wounded, while a 24-year old man and eight-year old girl were injured and subsequently rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention’.
According to Backhoff, the motives behind both incidents are still to be determined. “Police have launched a manhunt for unknown suspects. It is unclear at this stage whether or not the two incidents are linked. “

Brixton police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist with the investigation and ultimately lead to the apprehension of the suspects. Information can be provided anonymously by calling Crime Stop 08600 10111 or the Brixton Police Station on 011 248 5520/21.
