A new yet familiar face at the helm of Abbotts College

NORTHCLIFF – New principal is an advocate for the non-traditional learning environment where learners can express themselves individually.

Abbotts College’s new principal has described himself as proactive and a perfectionist.

Former deputy principal of the Northcliff-based high school Izak Stander will be taking the helm as the new principal. As acting principal, Stander led the school in an exemplary manner, without compromising on detail while ensuring that the well-being of learners remained a top priority.

He continues to ensure this in his new role but with a two-fold vision he hopes to manifest. The first being that each learner and staff member feels valued for who they are and for their contribution to the school and the world at large. “Our learning environment is one where everyone on campus has a sense of belonging,” he said.

The second is to achieve unity and pride while taking the school to greater heights in all spheres. Stander joined the Abbotts College Northcliff family in 2014 and was promoted to acting deputy principal in 2016. In 2017 he was promoted to deputy principal but regardless of the role he held, he always showed his passion for education, people and particularly seeing how the Abbotts College model changed the lives of their learners. Stander is an advocate for the non-traditional learning environment where learners can express themselves individually and focus on academic improvement attracts him to the brand.

“The systems and structures work and I have seen many success stories during my time as educator with the brand.”
