Fantasy and reality came out to play at De La Salle Holy Cross College Junior School on 4 March when they recognised World Book Day.
The school marks this as an annual event which is aimed at encouraging the love of reading among their learners. The school said it inculcates a love for reading in the school environment from a very young age. The school’s librarians, Julia Heaney and Alex Adams, said to be passionate about reading, now more so than ever, as they embrace an ever-changing, fast-paced world.
To create awareness about the joy of reading, the school celebrated World Book Day by having the children dress as their favorite book character. This was a wonderful day filled with the sharing of stories, characters and creative costumes.
“Reading gives us the opportunity to make meaning of the world, transporting us into a dimension that brings truth to our imagination and creativity, and provides us with the opportunity to escape into a world of fantasy and comfort,” concluded Mandy Gopal, junior school deputy head for academics.
