She explained that the 30-year-old suspect was caught by private security officers in the early hours of the morning on 28 January while he was removing the fourth tyre on a Ford Bantam bakkie. “One of the security companies in the area that were doing regular patrols spotted the suspect removing the tyre and apprehended him.

Unfortunately, two other suspects got away on foot.” According to Beckhoff, all of the victims of this crime were shocked and deeply hurt to wake up to find all four of their tyres stolen overnight. “We are sure that this suspect is involved in most of the cases reported for theft from motor vehicles where tyres are stolen.

“The suspect is being detained at the Brixton Police Station and will appear in court while information is being followed up on the identities and potential whereabouts of the other two suspects. The investigation officer is also following up on information on where these tyres were being sold.
