All set for Fairland Market Day

FAIRLAND – Clear your calendars for 6 December, its time to build the community and engage with each other.

The time to spoil yourself with a day in the park while enjoying a variety of food, music, drinks, yoga, a secured bike track, children’s activities and shopping has come to the Fairland policing precinct again.

The Fairland Community Policing Forum (CPF) will host their annual Market Day on 6 December in Fairland Park on Smit Street. Billed as the best one yet, the CPF will bring the community together again for a day of fun, entertainment and engagement thanks to the presence and participation of local security companies, estate agents and charity organisations.

The CPF’s Yasmine Miemiec said, “The market is first and foremost a community-building event. We want neighbours and fellow residents to get to know each other, and to get to know the CPF, police, Victim Support Unit and the Fairland patrollers.”
The market day will bring a smile to the face of many within the CPF as 2020 restricted their plans and activities for the year. Now the chance to meet, converse and have some summer fun has finally presented itself for the policing precinct.

“The year was challenging for us because of the restrictions on CPF activities for such a long period during the lockdown. We also could not hold our monthly meetings for 10 months of the year. In fact, our first meeting after lockdown will be held on the 13th December.” Fortunately, the CPF was able to maintain communication with residents through Whatsapp and Facebook groups and is pleased to share that they are back to being fully operational, including the work of the patrollers.

The CPF is encouraging the community to come out and support the Market Day. All Covid-19 safety protocols will be observed to ensure the safety and wellness of all.
