GBV and Cancer awareness walk lined up for Fairland

FAIRLAND – A day of information, community engagement and taking a stand against GBV and cancer.

Fairland police will host their fun walk on 30 October to create awareness about gender-based violence and breast cancer.

The walk will begin at Fairland Police Station at about 9am and will end at Fairland Walk shopping centre with the crowd expected to make a stop at Market Street Park. Walkers will hand out pamphlets with information about gender-based violence and cancer to the public. There will also be the opportunity to get free health checks including blood pressure and sugar level screenings at the end of the walk courtesy of Berario Clinic. Participants will be joined by the police’s safety and security allies as various security companies have confirmed their participation in the walk. Residents have been asked to attend the walk even if it’s not for the whole duration. This will allow residents to engage with the community’s safety and security role players and meet their neighbours. There will also be a braai afterwards.
