Covid-19 cases in South Africa have risen by 1 928 to a total of 702 131. The death rate has risen by 38 to a total of 18 407, while the recovery rate holds steady at 90 percent with a total of 630 436.

Gauteng remains the worst affected province with a total of 224 863 positive cases, followed by KwaZulu Natal with 121 174 positive cases, and the Western Cape with 114 181.

The death rate is highest in Gauteng with a total of 4 618, followed the Western Cape with 4 280 and the Eastern Cape with 3 421 deaths.
