A women’s month for the ages

WESTDENE – Young girl, you are powerful and are destined to achieve the greatness you so desire just by the pure conviction in self.

Young girl, you are powerful and are destined to achieve the greatness you so desire just by the pure conviction in self.

It is women’s month and as such we celebrate women of all ages, ethnic and religious groups because our strength is not regulated by what divides. In such unprecedented times we have to draw strength from each and it is something we do so effortlessly.

Principal of Orban School Liz van Tonder shared words of encouragement to all women as her hope for every girl child and young women was that this year would go down in their personal history as the year that they either realised or reinforced the fact that they were the change agent in their lives.

“You are awesome and don’t you ever forget it,” she said. “As young girls, we often dream of the life of a fairy tale princess. As time goes on, we find out that to live happily ever after, what we really need to do is believe in our self-worth, stand up for what is right for us, and have the courage to do what it takes to live our own happy and authentic lives.”

She added that for many, this was a brave, demanding and sometimes dangerous path to follow but in the end, through tenacity, courage and willpower ‘we can live a life in which we did our best to succeed’. “Whether you stand in the wings to encourage another or whether you are on the stage performing, everything you do, do it with courage, conviction and confidence. Together we have made, and together we will continue to make a difference.”
