Covid-19: 312 new deaths bring the total to 6 655

A total of 2 730 812 tests have been conducted thus far, with 57% of those taking place in private facilities, and 43% in public facilities.

Covid-19 cases continue to rise with 12 204 new cases bringing the total to date to 434 200. Gauteng remains the worst affected province with 156 821 infections, followed by the Western Cape with 91 033 and the Eastern Cape with 72 772.

312 new deaths have brought the total number of deaths to 6 655, while the recovery rate is sitting at 60.6% with 263 054.

All public schools will be closed from tomorrow, 27 July, for four weeks, in an attempt to see the country through the beginning of the peak in many provinces.
