The school is organising a Mandela Day Run on 18 July, where people can exercise for 6.7km or 67 minutes in aid of families in need.

Throughout the lockdown, the school’s parents’ association (care team and head councillors) have been supporting families of learners who have had difficulty during the lockdown.

The group has supplied these families with much-needed food and household items during this difficult time. The donations have even included data and airtime to those in need.

The Mandela Day Run will see people exercise wherever they are able to, and pledge R67 or a multiple of that amount to this good cause.”

Anyone can run and we would love them to support us,” said the school’s head boy, George Devenish.”We have been buying, sorting and delivering the goods to people since 24 April and we will continue doing so.”

Details about the run can be found on the Northclif High School Facebook page.

Community members are encouraged to take photos of themselves on the day and share these with the school along with information about how far the person exercised and what connection they may have with the school. The school promises to acquire permission from users before sharing these photos publicly.

The WhatsApp phone number people can send their photos to is 061 531 9145.To find out more about getting involved and making donations, please contact the school.
