Raking up the Victrix Ludorum Award year after year

VICTORY PARK – The Grade 7 Victrix Ludorum Award was the hardest to achieve as it was her final lap in primary school.

King David High School Victory Park Grade 12 learner Riley Bick was recently awarded the Victrix Ludorum award for 2020.

This was the fifth consecutive year Riley has won this award having first achieved it in 2016. She said, “It feels incredible knowing how hard I worked and how much effort I put in each year to achieve this.” The award was handed over to Riley in a special online awards assembly hosted by the school in June. Riley added, “The award symbolises strength, hard work and lots of dedication towards the goal I have wished for.”

She said she was as proud and excited to receive her fifth Victrix Ludorum award as she was for her first one.”Each one had a unique meaning, and each one had a different drive behind it, so I could never single out one over the other.” Riley admitted that her award she won in Grade 7 was the hardest to achieve. “This was my last year in primary school, and after all the effort I had put into the years before, I really wanted to end this final year on a high note, as well as a few extras that I knew would have only come along with the win.”

Riley is fully appreciative of her parent’s support and care which she believes is a big attribute to her success and abilities. “I would like to thank my parents for always being there and pushing me to do what they know I can, and for helping me, and not making me go through it by myself.” She also thanked her friends for showing her support and cheering her on. “I am truly grateful to everyone and thankful to my school and coaches with a special mention to coach Kiefer Govender, who have given me these chances to show who I am and what I am capable of.”
