JOBURG – there is a city-wide delay in sending the bills for the month of June.

The City of Johannesburg has released a statement apologising to customers who have not received their rates and utility monthly statements.

According to the City, there is a city-wide delay in sending the bills for the month of June. They have asked residents to continue paying their bills in the meanwhile and stated there would not be consequences for those who make delayed payments.

The statement read, ‘We encourage customers to continue to pay their municipal accounts as per their normal monthly average consumption. No interest will be charged on late payments on current (30 days) accounts as a result of late billing.’

Customers whose finances have been negatively impacted by the Covid 19 pandemic and are unable to pay for their rates should make payment arrangements advised the City. It stated, ‘They [Those who can’t make payments] do not have to visit City’s offices as arrangements can be made via email by sending required documents through to the following email address [creditcontrol@joburg.org.za] where dedicated staff members will be ready to assist.’

Municipal account payments can still be made through either electronic fund transfers, automated teller machines or telephone banking as well as through third parties such as Easy Pay in various retail stores including Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Woolworths and the Post Office.
