Hoërskool Linden’s new Astro takes shape

LINDEN – Hoërskool Linden's new AstroTurf is nearly ready.

Hoërskool Linden is proud to announce the near completion of their brand new state-of-the-art AstroTurf.
The mammoth task was undertaken by Sporturf South Africa.

Late last year, the school commenced with the construction of the highly anticipated artificial turf hockey project.
Philip Booyens of SCIP Engineering Group said that the national lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19 did put a dent in the plans to finish the project sooner.”Never in our wildest dreams could we imagine the Level 5 hard lockdown announcement of our President at the end of March. Considering all these abnormal events, our hockey project is progressing well,” said Booyens.

According to Booyens, a ton of preparation has been completed including the surface preparation and layer works, subsurface drainage, field irrigation, fencing, paving and kerbing and the floodlighting.
The anticipated completion date is currently August 2020 and the delivery and final installation of the artificial turf still has to take place.

The contractor for the project Johan Louw of Sporturf is confident that the team should be able to meet the project deadlines. Hoërskool Linden’s management would also like to thank Johan Louw and the rest of the Sportturf team for going beyond the normal call of duty to facilitate the successful completion on this massive flagship project for us during these extraordinary times.
