Brixton Police’s bicycle operation leads to dagga bust

BRIXTON – Store owner confesses to selling cannabis products from his store during COVID 19 lockdown.

Brixton Police Station is celebrating their latest operation, and bust, for its unique style. The station recently decided to ditch a few of their patrol vehicles and patrol the streets of their precinct on bicycles. According to the stations spokesperson, Jeanette Backhoff, the plan was created by the station and the Brixton Community Policing Forum. She explained, “Members from the Crime Prevention Unit were dispatched on the bikes and this experiment bared fruit when they did patrols and confiscated cannabis products and dagga.” The bicycle operation which resulted in the discovery and arrest of a 45-year-old male pleased the station. The police’s narcotics and drugs unit was called in to assist the police after the man admitted he was selling these cannabis products from his store. Backhoff stated that once done, the unit will be able to give more information on what was being sold and any related information. The value of the cannabis products and dagga were to be determined. The Station Commander of Brixton police, Colonel Mkhacani Maluleke, applauded the creative thinking and result-based work being done by his officers. He thanked them for going beyond their normal duties and commitment to keep the precinct safe and secure.
