How to live sustainably, during and post lockdown

GREYMONT – Local zero waste champion encourages clearing out old belongings

South Africans find themselves immersed in life within the confines of their living environments, with hopes to flatten the curve in the country of Covid-19. Upcycle Zero Waste to Landfill Store has worked with corporates to divert their waste from the landfills and has. The store is currently closed due to the national lockdown, however, owner Winnie Mc Henry shared some tips for activities residents can do to continue the sustainable development agenda, while at home.

The following are things we can all do while on lockdown, from the comfort of our homes:

• Really look at the waste you have in your homes.

• Spring clean and identify your belongings you don’t need any more to pass on to others who will have use for them.

• Reflect and understand that life is a lot harder for many people out there

• Open up your mind to the potential of stuff and the value it has.

Mc Henry emphasised, “It might not have value to you but it will really make a difference to someone else.”
