Residents of region B have the second highest number of positive cases in the province

JOBURG – Now you know hwo many positive cases have been registered near your home.

If the residents of the City of Johannesburg needed any more reasons to stay home and follow the rules of the national lockdown, look no further. On 21 April the Gauteng Health Department released the number of confirmed positive cases for the province and the City of Johannesburg occupies seven of the top 10 regions in the province. As it stood, Johannesburg accounted for 59 per cent of all confirmed cases in the province.

Region E, which covers Sandton, Alexandra, Orange Grove and Houghton, has the highest number of cases (227), followed by Region B (Randburg, Rosebank, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Parktown, Northcliff) which has 140 cases, and Region F (Inner City, Yeoville, Kensington, South Johannesburg) has 93 cases.

Johannesburg has registered 712 positive cases of the virus, the next leading district is Ekurhuleni 257 positive cases. The City of Tshwane had the third most with 125 positive cases and West Rand and Sedibeng registering 40 and 11 cases respectively. 54 cases are still to be allocated.

As the Coronavirus national lockdown continues, Gauteng Province has urged the public to adhere to the rules and regulations of the lockdown. The public has been reminded that law enforcement will be arresting those found to be contravening the rules of the lockdown.
