No learner left behind at Hoërskool Linden

LINDEN – Our learners can continue academic lessons thanks to the use of Microsoft Teams and our competent, dedicated staff – Johan Wiehahn, pricipal.

Hoërskool Linden is at the forefront of digital education, and the lockdown of the country to curb the spread of the coronavirus has only proven this fact.

According to the school’s Marianne Gouws, in 2017 Hoërskool Linden was the first public school to become a Microsoft Partnership School. The staff received training in computer skills while technology and digital teaching methods are used in their classrooms.

Every learner in the school has free access to Office 365 on five different devices. Among other things are included Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams.

“Learning is our school’s priority and our school strives to offer every learner the opportunity to access modern, digital teaching and learning.

“During this period, our learners can continue academic lessons thanks to the use of Microsoft Teams and our competent, dedicated staff,” said Gouws.

The school’s principal Johan Wiehahn also shared his voice of support for learners, staff and the Linden community during this time.

“I want to thank each Hoërskool Linden student and parent at the end of our first school week in Covid-19 isolation for their positive cooperation.

“As creative learners of Hoërskool Linden, with the support of a team of dedicated teachers, it is in our hands to turn any challenging problem into something positive. Our teachers and learners are ready and equipped to continue digital teaching on Microsoft Teams for an indefinite period. If difficulties are experienced, teachers should please be notified so that no one stays behind.”

Wiehahn added that everyone should remember to maintain a balance of relaxation, attend to your physical appearance, and exercise regularly.

“Be yourself every day regardless of your situation and stay strong.”
