National Education Collaboration Trust helps learners stay on their A-game

JOBURG – The National Education Collaboration Trust urges learners to continue with their school work.

As a precautionary measure, President Cyril Ramaphosa proclaimed that schools all over South Africa were closed on 16 March. Since then, many learners have found themselves at home either being taught via the Internet or idle. The National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) has endeavoured to give learners tips and resources to remain on their A-game while the country has remained shut down to flatten the curve of the covid-19 pandemic.

The NECT is an organisation dedicated to strengthened partnerships within civil society and between civil society and government in order to achieve South Africa’s national goals for basic education. The organisation strives both to support and to influence the agenda for reform of education. NECT is a registered trust and is overseen by a board of trustees chaired by former FirstRand CEO Sizwe Nxasana. The trustees are drawn from business, government, education trade unions and civil society more broadly.

Throughout this lockdown, the trust issued a reminder to learners that life will continue afterwards and it was important to keep learning and take advantage of all the materials and information available to you. Learners should rope in their buddies to organise group work sessions where they help and encourage each other.
