Covid-19: Waterval Pikitup Depot trucks gets sanitised

MELVILLE – The depot team was educated on the coronavirus, the importance of hygiene, masks, gloves and the correct ways to use them.

The Waterval Pikitup Depot in Melville received quite a deep cleaning on 2 April, as City of Joburg officials revealed safety measures and protocols that will be undertaken during the 21-day lockdown to flatten the curve of Covid-19 cases.

The depot was cleaned and sanitised,  as the depot team was educated on the coronavirus, the importance of hygiene, masks, gloves and the correct ways to use them.

MMC for Environment, Infrastructure and Services, councillor Mpho Moerane observed the safety protocol and procedure, making sure that Pikitup trucks are sanitised before hitting the road. Moerane said that all these measures are to ensure that all the necessary precautions as advised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) are being implemented to ensure employee safety.

Pikitup trucks are cleaned before they head out to service their areas, employees were also shown their expected daily safety procedure so that they are able to provide services to the city’s residents during the lockdown.
