Second confirmed case of COVID-19 now in Gauteng

JOBURG- The first case was confirmed in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The Department of Health has confirmed that the second positive test of the coronavirus has been confirmed and it is now in Gauteng.

In a statement the Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize said, “The 39 year old lady who is from Gauteng is a direct contact to the first case  from Kwa Zulu Natal. She was part of the group of 10 who travelled to Italy.”

The department has assured the public that they have information and know the whereabouts off all the 10 people who were a part of the group.

The first patient with the virus in South Africa was confirmed on 5 March.

The rest of the group has been tested, Mkhize added they now are awaiting their results to come out. “Since being traced, they have remained in isolation to avoid any further contact with third parties.”

The second patient will now be taken to a Gauteng hospital.
