Auckland Park Prep’s day out doors

AUCKLAND PARK – A day of eco-friendly hats, walking and some fun with water.

Sunscreen, hats, water, friends, family and their favourite teachers, what more could the girls of Auckland Park Preparatory School want on a Friday morning. On 7 February, the school hosted their annual swimathon and walkathon where their learners, parents and teachers enjoyed a morning of activities and festivities. Headmistress of the school Brenda Howden said, “What a fun-filled morning oozing such positivity on all sides – parents and girls. I couldn’t be prouder.”

The parents got things started from as early as 6.30am as they headed for the field or swimming pool in representation of their daughters’ class. The Grade 0, 1 and 2 learners then proceeded to showcase and use the beautiful eco-friendly hats they created for the day. With these hats they clocked up laps around the field to the cheering of their enthusiastic parents on the sidelines. The older girls took to the water for the swimathon and here too laps were recorded. In keeping with the environmentally friendly theme of the day, all participants were awarded little spekboom plants for their efforts.
