Linden police highlight crimes in January

LINDEN – Linden police spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba has highlighted some of January's crimes that took place in the Linden policing precinct.

n A burglary at a Linden business took place after suspects removed a section of fence to gain entrance to the yard of the business. A door was forced open to gain entrance into the building. Suspects stole a plasma TV, microwave oven and a refrigerator. The suspects are still at large.

n A robbery and assault took place in Windsor East when a complainant was sitting inside his car. Two suspects pulled him out of the car and hit him with a tin of cold drink. The suspects searched him and an amount of R850 and a cell phone was taken from his pocket by the suspects. The suspects are still at large.

n A case of hijacking was opened at the station after a victim’s Hyundai ix35 was taken from him. The complainant was at his premises in Louise Street in Windsor West, putting goods into the boot of his car. A white Volkswagen Polo with four occupants drew up to him. Three of them jumped out of the car, threatening him with a firearm. Suspects took his car, cell phone and wallet. They also beat him and forced him to give them his ATM pin code which they used to withdraw an unknown amount of money. The suspects drove with their victim and dropped him somewhere near Honeydew. The vehicle was later recovered in Soweto.

Matumba encourages all residents to be vigilant and report crime where necessary.
