Man struck and dragged by car in Brixton

BRIXTON – 100m drag ends in hospitalisation.


Man left critically injured after being dragged by a motor vehicle.

A man believed to be in his 40s was hospitalised on 3 February after being struck and dragged by a light motor vehicle. According to ER24’s Russel Meiring, the incident took place at the intersection of Solomon and Smit streets in Brixton. He said it is understood that the man had been struck by the vehicle and dragged for approximately 100 metres before the car had come to a complete stop.

Meiring said, “ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 10.05am to find the man lying on the side of the road, partially beneath the vehicle.”

Medics carefully extricated the man and assessed him, finding that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition. He added, “The man was treated for his injuries and provided with several advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Charlotte Maxeke Provincial hospital for further care.”

The driver of the vehicle was fortunate enough to escape without any injuries. The relevant authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
