Pinnacle’s pioneers

LINDEN – Pinnacle College Linden opens its doors to its first group of learners.

Pinnacle College Linden, officially opening its doors to the Linden Community.

It was a day of firsts on 15 January as the school not only welcomed their first class of Grade 1s but it also ushered in the school’s pioneer learners.

Founding principal Justin Choveaux said this was a special day as the children arrived for the onset of their academic year. “Laughter and the sound of children filled the corridors and have hence given life to the beautiful heritage buildings on our site.”

He explained that oftentimes, the onus for providing a well-rounded educational experience falls directly on the shoulders of the school administrators, teachers and staff. However, this limited perspective overlooks the fact that much of a child’s life and education occurs outside the classroom.

“We are fortunate to have several external providers that add to our children’s holistic education and therefore play an important role as part of the immediate community,” said Choveaux.

Choveaux shared the responsibility for raising a well-educated and a globally-minded generation of children does not rest solely with schools. “The relationship between parent/community involvement and student achievement correlates directly. It was beautiful to take note of the number of families that attended our opening assemblies and bell-ringing ceremonies.” It gives us confidence that our community-based school already has a firm foundation. We look forward to growing in this space in 2020.”

To his pioneer learners, he had this to say,” It takes a single spark to create a fire, be deliberate in the creation of your fire, the Pinnacle College Linden fire. Allow your fire to grow into an intense blaze by socialising and creating friendships, creating a positive mindset about learning and most importantly – have fun. Remember that success is a process and not an instantaneous event. It is highly probable that you make mistakes – go learn from them. Most importantly, boys and girls ask questions and are curious! All the best as you embark on this exciting chapter in your life.”
