Women tied up in house robbery

LINDEN – Police are calling for increased vigilance after two young women were tied up in a house robbery on 10 January.

The police are calling for increased vigilance after two young women were tied up in a house robbery on 10 January.

According to Linden Police Station spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba, the robbery took place at a house on 6th Street in Linden.

“The two women were alone at home when they heard a door inside the house being opened. Three suspects entered the room and forced the women to lie on the ground and ordered them to be quiet,” said Matumba.

The two women were tied up by the suspects while the suspects ransacked the main bedroom.

When forcing one of the doors open, the suspects triggered the house’s alarm system, which prompted a security company to respond to the scene.

Matumba said, “As they were responding, the security company spotted a white Mazda bakkie speeding down 6th Street and security gave chase. The suspect decided to jump out of the car and run, leaving the bakkie and all the stolen items inside the car.”

Various electronic items were recovered from the bakkie.

The three suspects were caught by the security company and arrested by the Linden police.

The suspects are due to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges for their crimes.
