Saints Africa needs your help to help others

LINDEN – Donations needed in the spirit of helping those less fortunate.

British politician, army officer and writer Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

This is a philosophy firmly believed by Saints Africa NPO which has, over the past four years, involved themselves in charity work to assist in welfare, humanitarian work, education and development. The CEO of Saints Africa (South Africans In Need To Support), CJ van Wyk shared their focus for 2020, “This year we want to work and assist our four main charity beneficiaries with donations and support and continue with our street ministries project which has become a great success.”

The NPO’s director of projects Roy McEwan explained more about their street ministries, “The street ministries are our weekly feeding scheme programme where we provide food for those that have access to none, and spiritual assistance to help them deal with whatever challenges they are facing.”

This project is hosted three times a week in Newlands on Tuesday mornings and in Linden and Randburg on Sunday afternoons and evenings. The project started out with small numbers but has grown to assist recyclers and displaced people.

Saints Africa’s aim is to uplift, up-skill and empowers identified needy communities. This is done through the donations they collect which enables them to feed, clothe, house, educate and counsel those in need of such. To do so, they rely on the generous and highly appreciated donations made to them from the public. They are asking for such assistance once again so they can continue with their work in 2020 and help more people.

Saints Africa is pleading with the public to assist them with any donations. Cash donations are always best as it enables them to buy new clothing items and blankets for those in need. They also welcome donations of new or second-hand clothing, blankets and shoes; volunteers to assist them when hosting their projects and donations of any food items (even perishables will do as they host their feeding scheme three times a week).

Van Wyk said people should be understanding when it comes to helping those less fortunate. “Everyone is three months away from being homeless. If you were to miss your next three salaries you to would be in the position they are in. This is why we need to help anyone we can because it could easily be you.”
