149 arrested by Linden police during the festive season

LINDEN – The Linden police are celebrating a successful festive season period after the arrest of 149 suspects for various crimes since 1 December.


The Linden police are celebrating a successful festive season period after the arrest of 149 suspects for various crimes since 1 December.

Spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba said, “We would like to congratulate our police members for making a large number of arrests in such a short period of time. These arrests are for multiple crimes.”

Some of the 149 arrests include:

Assualt

  •  Sexual assault
  •  Assault with grievous bodily harm
  •  Illegal possession of a firearm
  •  Selling liquor illegally
  •  Malicious damage to property
  •  Shoplifting
  •  Fraud
  •  Reckless and negligent driving
  •  Possession of drugs
  •  Tresspassing
  •  Rape

Matumba thanked all the police members who played a part in making the 149 arrests and encouraged them to continue the good work in keeping the crime rate in the area down.

“We as the Linden police would like to wish everyone a happy new year. As we start the year 2020, we hope that the community continues to remain vigilant and helps to bring the crime in our area down by continuing to report it to the police.”

All suspects are due to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
