Kindness Like Confetti spreads cheer all year

RANDBURG – Kindness like Confetti enjoys a fruitful year and plans to continue the momentum

Kindness like Confetti (KLC) is a non-profit organisation which has celebrated the pervasive power of kindness and organised action to make a change.

KLC has an extensive list of organised projects which they have continued to execute throughout the year which can be viewed on their website. Head of the organisation Claire Duvel shared a few words about their year.

Duvel said the highlights of the year were:

  • The response to the Mandela Day tea party held at Park Care old age home.
  • The collaboration between KLC and Razeena Salooje of Mini Miracles to collect comfort items for cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

“Through our generous donors we collected blankets, socks, ginger tea, biscuits, Vaseline, tissues to name a few items. We were able to assemble over 400 bags and handed them over to The Brave Bag Foundation for distribution,” she said.

The ‘lowlights’ of the year was the need for food parcels for community members who have struggled to make ends meet. The weekly soup kitchen organised by KLC has seen an increased need which is not always met by their supply. This has been a result of increased unemployment in most cases. KLC has appealed to community members to spare a few grocery items this Christmas for the soup kitchen.

The organisations goals for next year have been outlined as follows:

  • To build new toilet facilities at a nursery school located in an informal settlement near Lanseria
  • To upgrade kitchen facilities at a school in Pipeline informal settlement in Kya Sands
  • Increase the distribution of Dignity Bags per month
  • Issue more sanitary pads per month with monetary donations
  • Supplement a few identified schools in disadvantaged areas with additional food
  • Move the KLC operation from our homes (garages) to a central space.

“A special word of thanks and gratitude goes to everyone who supported us throughout 2019, every item donated helped someone in need,” concluded Duvel.
