Top spots for De La Salle Holy Cross College as they win Business Studies Olympiad

VICTORY PARK – Local high school learners come out on top in Business Studies Olympiad.

While many slow down as the year comes closer to an end, this wasn’t the case for two De La Salle Holy Cross College learners.

Grade 12’s Michael Duffy and Bryan Lamprecht were recently recognised as the top learners in the 2019 Proverto Business Studies Olympiad. The pair were part of 8 011 high school learners that entered the 3-in-1 Olympiad this year which consisted of papers on accounting, business studies and economics. With all the knowledge they possessed, they were able to come out on top, an achievement that pleased Michael. He said, “Participating in the Proverto Business Studies Olympiad was a great experience and I’m incredibly grateful to my school and teachers for the opportunity.”

The Proverto Olympiads have been taking place annually since 2011 and this year was the first time a National High School Olympiad for accounting, business studies and economics was held.

Michael and Bryan walked away with some great prizes with both receiving bursaries to the value of R33 000 and a financial literacy course to the value of R2 500. Their teachers were also recognised by Proverto as they were also awarded a financial literacy course and a R5 000 bursary.

De La Salle Holy Cross College is extremely proud of their learners and teachers for such an achievement and hopes this is the first of many.
