FAIRLAND – Back to back woman of the year awards.


Local police officer awarded as the Woman of the Year by the police service.

Last year at this time, Fairland community was proud to welcome the award-winning Adele van Zyl to its police station. At the time she had recently won the Vita Basadi Guardian Award and Women of the Year at the 2018 Johannesburg District Police Cluster Awards. Fast-forward to the 2019 edition of the awards and she has yet again walked away with some impressive titles. Van Zyl is now the Woman of the Year yet again and the second runner-up for Administration Employee of the Year.

Van Zyl shared her happiness after winning the awards. “Winning the awards was such a wow moment to me. I didn’t expect it at all.”

It’s been celebrations ever since for Van Zyl and her family. “My husband is very proud and super happy for my achievements and so is the rest of my family. ”

The excited Van Zyl explained why these awards are special to her. “The awards are given to those that excel in their work and I’ve been working very hard. It’s good to be recognised for work.”

She added that the awards will keep her humble in her work.

Van Zyl’s daily is a senior registry clerk at Fairland and she has been with the police service over the last 10 years. Her duties consist of the day-to-day administration responsibilities of the station.

She has only been with Fairland police for little bit over a year but the station celebrated her achievements. “Everyone at the station was congratulating me and celebrating with me on the next Monday. It was a beautiful feeling.”

She added that although she was happy to be named winner, the nominations themselves were the most rewarding recognition.
