Five suspects arrested after trying to commit robbery

FAIRLAND – Fairland SAPS said that they were alerted to the getaway vehicle used and spotted the vehicle close to Verdi Shopping Centre.


According to Suburban Control Centre, five suspects tried to rob a patron leaving the shopping centre but did not succeed.

One suspect is said to have been left behind after the attempt while the others fled in a silver Almera on Beyers Naudé Drive towards Verdi Shopping Centre.

“When our reaction officers arrived on scene the one suspect tried to flee on foot but was apprehended,” said Suburban Control Centre in a Facebook post.

Fairland SAPS said that they were alerted of the getaway vehicle used and spotted the vehicle close to Verdi Shopping Centre. “The vehicle was pulled over and an additional four suspects were arrested. Five suspects in total were arrested,” said Suburban Control Centre.

Constable Michael Kgatla, the spokesperson for the Fairland Police Station, said the five suspects are at the station and they are waiting for the person that was almost robbed to open a case against them.However, if the person does not open a case, they will have to let them go.
