A day of song, dance and fundraising organised for a great cause

FAIRLAND – The time to raise funds for a cause while enjoying a day of dance, song and fun has come.

What better way to contribute towards a positive cause than by attending a day of festivities. A variety show in aid of the Soweto Animal Rescue and Advisory Centre (Sarac) will be hosted on 13 October at Cliffview Primary School.

The show, which is titled Woof Woof, Who Let the Dogs Out, seeks to raise funds for the centre and their hopes to build an animal hospital, which is desperately needed in various underprivileged communities.

The fundraising event, Woof Woof, Who Let the Dogs Out will take place on 13 October.

Animal-loving Fairland resident Vicky Fitzgibbon has been hard at work to ensure the show and fundraiser is a success as she took the initiative to organise the event. Her hard work, along with the efforts of the team and founder of the centre Jerry Selwane, can guarantee a day of fun, joy and memories. Those attending will be entertained by song and various dances, including Spanish, Irish, Tribal Belly, Mexican and the Can Can. There will also be amazing prizes given on the day and a raffle will also be held.

Selwane worked for the SPCA for 13 years and decided to establish the Soweto Animal Rescue and Advisory Centre at the end of 2011. Using his pension, he launched the NPO to fulfil his vision to educate and change people’s attitude towards animals. He embarked on a mission to teach the next generation about the worth of animal care and make them aware of the cruelty to our furry little friends without a voice. At his community workshops, children are taught to have respect for their pets. They are reminded to keep their pets fed, hydrated, clean and healthy and to provide them with shelter and pure love.
