GEM Homes to host a fête

ROOSEVELT PARK – Support the non-profit organisation that makes sure to keep our senior citizens safe.

Come 3 November it would be wise of you to head to GEM Homes for their annual and highly anticipated, major fundraising event.

The home, which can be found along Mendelssohn Road, is a non-profit organisation that provides accommodation for elderly military veterans and their spouses.

They plan to host the community at large at their GEM Poppy Fête, a theme they chose to coincide with Remembrance Day, where since the end of the First World War, they remember the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

The Roosevelt Park-based home has a White Elephant, Book and Pre-loved clothing shops, which the community is asked to donate to on Thursdays between 10am and 11am. So, if you have just spring-cleaned your home and looking to give away your old items head on over to the home and who knows, you might just make someone’s day by doing a simple kind gesture. On the day of the fête all these stores will be open throughout the day.

Those who have been to the home will know it boasts a magnificent garden so while you are at the fête you will not only have the pleasure of enjoying the garden, but there will also be a garden stall for you to purchase some goodies for your own garden. Those green fingers among us who have pots, compost, potting soil, seedlings and plants to spare are welcome to donate these to the home as it would be greatly appreciated.

Should you not be able to donate what you can on a Thursday, you can deliver your donations to their office, Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.
