Mikayla Klerck wins big at Arts festival

NORTHCLIFF – In July this year she travelled to the USA to compete in a competition that saw bring home some big awards.


The 16-year-old Mikayla Klerck made South Africa proud when she competed in the Arts (Applause Rising Talent Showcase) earlier this year.

Mikayla is currently in Grade 10 at Northcliff High School. She was scouted to perform in front of Kin Myers, an international talent scout last year. She said, “I was lucky enough to be chosen by Kim Myers to compete in acting and modelling at Arts. In acting, I will compete in categories such as TV commercial, improvisation, film scene and monologue. And in the modelling category, I will compete in a fashion runway, photography, swimsuit and creative runway.”

The competition was held in Orlando, Florida, USA in July. The Arts festival is an annual event that serves as a jump-start for international training and careers in the performing arts from around the world. It offers South African artists exposure to an international selection of agents, record labels, casting directors, managers and producers from Hollywood, Miami, New York City, Atlanta and as far as Europe and Asia.

Congratulations to Mikayla who achieved the following results at the Arts festival:

  • Overall fashion model
  • Theme runway model – 2nd place
  • Photography model – 3rd place
  • Swimsuit model – 3rd place
  • Creative runway model – Top 5.
