Sophiatown police investigate two separate shooting incidents

 Police looking to see if there are any links in two early morning shootings.

Sophiatown police are investigating two shooting incidents that took place between 1am and 3am on 14 August. 

According to one of the victims, they were approached by the suspects who asked them for directions to a store and then opened fire on them.” Of the two victims, one was a 38-year-old female who was shot in the ankle, while the other was a 40-year-old male who was shot in his upper body.

At around 2.50am on the same morning, a short distance from the first shooting, another man was shot. De Bruyn said that the man was shot five times. Fortunately for all the victims, they were treated on the scene, stabilised and taken to the hospital.

The police are investigating both cases to establish if they can be linked to each other. Two cases of attempted murder have been opened. Anyone with any information on these incidents are urged to contact the police.
