Kinetic Energy Studio in Northcliff has trained top elite dancers from a young age. Owner Erica Bradley has had the opportunity to train Kayla Cartmell, Caitlyn Lötter, Sharelle, Almar and Jake Kanda who won at the South African Solo Championships held in Cape Town in June.
The five young professionals participated at the championships after training weekly for several hours with dance professional Bradley who said, “I started dancing when I was eight years old and have danced all over the world representing South Africa in a couple of championships.”
At the Kinetic Energy Studio in Northcliff Bradley and the two Kanda brothers train the dancers. Almar (19) won first place for pro rising classical star in contemporary jazz and ballet; third place for pro champ energy in hip-hop as well as for senior advanced overall. Jake (23) came first for pro rising star energy and second for pro rising star in classic. They won these titles in Cape Town in June, making them more than qualified and with years of experience to train young dancers.
The Kanda brothers, sister Sharelle, Caitlyn and Kayla on 31 August will compete as a team at the International Solo Dance Sport Battle of the teams on the West Rand. The team said they are always excited to compete in dancing competitions as this is their passion. They thanked Bradley and her dedication and patience towards them.
These dancers all attended the championship held in Cape Town in June and Kayla (13) won first place for junior champ classic for Latin, junior advanced classic and second for junior rising star energy. Sharelle (14) got fourth place for junior rising star Latin and third for junior rising star energy. Caitlyn (12) got second for rising star in energy and second for pro rising star in classic.
