Sparrow School at 702’s Walk the Talk

MELVILLE – A meaningful walk on 28 July helped raise awareness for the school.


Sparrow School’s Educational Trust hosted their own 702 Walk the Talk for participants at 27 Boxes in Melville and 355 participants were registered for the fun walk on 28 July.

Sparrow School was this year supported by local businesses who generously helped them. Landynamix sponsored the T-shirts and their staff; Jasco sponsored T-shirts and their staff; RJ Connect sponsored their staff; Vumatel sponsored the water bottles and goody bags; Pick n Pay Boskruin sponsored the energy bars; The 702 Walk the Talk sponsored them scarves and Milo for each of the pack and lastly, Run/Walk for Life sponsored cereal for the children who are walking.

Since 1989, Sparrow School has been schooling differently-abled and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. Sparrow caters for learners from Grade 1 to 9.

Lois Grobbelaar from Sparrow School said that ‘350 out 355 participants pitched to walk under the Sparrow Banner’.

She added, “Meeting and being shuttled from 27 Boxes was a great success again this year. Walk for a purpose, walk to educate disabled children at Sparrow School.”

702 Walk the Talk had taken place at Marks Park in Emmarentia.
