New president for Rotary Club of Johannesburg

AUCKLAND PARK – The dinner was attended by honourable Mayor Herman Mashaba who gave a speech before the club announced their new presidents.

The Rotary Club of Johannesburg held a business dinner for its members to formally induct the 2019/2020 presidents at the Johannesburg Country Club on the evening of 9 July.

The evening was attended by the honourable Mayor Herman Mashaba, who give a special speech as a past recipient of the club.

The programme was held down by young Daniel McAslin from St Stithians Boys’ College as the club works closely with the college and mentors the learners in becoming great future leaders of South Africa.

The president for 2019/2020 Grace van Zyl, a financial life strategist, entrepreneur, speaker, author, and philanthropist, is a highly driven, motivated and passionate new president who hopes to make a positive impact in the community. “You hold the key to a better future, it’s all about choice, decision and importantly, action.”

The club also welcomed other presidents for the 2019/2020 year; interact president-elect Kutlawano Manaka gave a powerful speech, “Work does not necessarily bring productivity but productivity brings results and what is more satisfactory than results. I am grateful for this opportunity to make a difference and also to do it alongside people I feel very privileged to work with.”

Minenhle Majola is studying a masters degree in strategic management at the University of Johannesburg and was awarded the Rotaract President Award for 2019/2020. He expressed, “My greatest desire is to be able to influence others to do better and achieve all they put their minds to. I believe influence is the highest act.”

The evening was filled with celebration and thanksgiving from the members and they also celebrated their new leaders for the year ahead and growing into communities around Johannesburg. To find out more about the Rotary Club of Johannesburg email info@rcjohannesburg.org.za
