Domestic violence case turns into drug possession matter

BRIXTON – Drugs packer busted and sent to jail after domestic violence complaint.

Brixton police recently arrested a woman who was found in possession of packets containing the highly addictive and life-threatening drug crystal meth.

Police officers from Brixton Police Station were called to attend to a domestic violence complaint on 20 June. Upon their arrival, the person suspected of domestic violence was not at the complainant’s address.

According to the spokesperson for the station, Jeanette Backhoff, the officers were given an address where the suspect could possibly be and they followed up on the information. “When the constables arrived, they entered the house and found a woman in one of the rooms packing crystal meth.”

Backhoff said officers interrogated the woman and she revealed why she was in possession of the drugs. “On interviewing her, it was found that she receives the drugs in big packets and then packs it in smaller bags. They will then be picked up by someone else to sell.”

Officers found a total of 13 packets of drugs which have a street value of approximately R10 000.

The woman was arrested and police are currently investigating the matter.
