Interhouse sports day at North West Christian School

NORTHCLIFF – Learners enjoyed a friendly competitive sports day with their parents rallying them on.


North West Christian School hosted their annual inter-house athletics day on 20 June for all learners to participate in and parents came to show their support.

The learners participated in their different house colours – Caleb (green), Samson (red) and David (yellow). The day begin early with the first event being the 800m for the U13 boys and girls, followed by sprints, long distance again and relays. It was apparent how the learners enjoyed competing against each other and off the track the spectators shouted, sang and cheered their team members on.

After a short break, the learners participated in novelty races which proved to be a favourite for all. These included egg and spoon races, hockey skills races, racket relay races and finally the 100-yard dash where all the fastest sprinters from Grade 4 to 7 competed.

Gary McNab, the sports coordinator at the school said, “This day was about the spirit of teamwork and having fun for the learners. It is always exciting for us to come together with the parents to celebrate the learners. For the 100-yard dash we take the fastest eight learners to compete and win the trophy which has a history of 100 years.”

The trophy was won by Tia Lawrenson, Caleb house won for team spirit and David won the overall day with a points tally of 268.
