Local girls’ school has an evening of isiZulu songs, dance, food and more.

The learners, teachers, parents and friends and family of Auckland Park Preparatory School (APPS) had a night to remember as the school hosted their isiZulu Fireside Tales. The event was a night where the school gave appreciation and recognition to the Zulu culture.

On the day songs, poems and dancing, as well as marimba and djembe items, were on display and fully enjoyed by those in attendance. The highlight of the evening was the when the APPS’s senior isiZulu teacher Mama Ndaba shared traditional Zulu tales. In addition to this, the school invited the boys of Salvazione Christian School to entertain the audience with their captivating gumboot dancing.

The parents of APPS also joined in the festivities as Kgomotso le Roux, a professional musician, performed songs which further entertained the crowd to much applause. The tummies of those in attendance were also entertained as there was a traditional healthy cuisine buffet that was near impossible to resist. Along with the Furamera family who performed Nigerian songs, the night was a huge success.

The school wanted to thank all those that helped bring it together and those that attended. APPS looks forward to hosting them again next year.
