NORTHCLIFF – On your marks, get set, go.

Northcliff Primary School hosted their annual Soap Box Derby to raise funds.

17 May was a day of fun and excitement for all those at the school as, after much anticipation, they hosted their 2019 edition of their Soap Box Derby Day, in partnership with Spur Wild Falcon. The school’s marketing and resource mobiliser Suzy Beaumont said the learners were given the responsibility to encourage their friends to pledge their support by making a cash donation. After weeks of preparation, the day finally came and was enjoyed by all.

Beaumont explained how the events of the day went. “There were two tracks and the parents came to assist with the counting of laps that each class completes.” Parents that weren’t counting laps were selling ice-cream, water, juice and popcorn on the day to raise additional funds. After a day of racing and friendly competition, the winning teams were announced. In the end, the foundation phase Grade 3SP class and the senior phases Grade 6DM class were victorious.

A very big thank you was directed towards the Spur team for their effort and commitment before and during the derby. Beaumont concluded, “Northcliff Primary School staff and learners are extremely grateful to Spur Wild Falcon for their partnership and look forward to many more successful events with them.”
