Three robbers arrested in Linden

LINDEN – Three suspects have been arrested for allegedly following and robbing a 33-year-old man of R300 000 which he had withdrawn at the bank.

An undisclosed amount of cash has been recovered by members of the Linden Crime Prevention Unit when they arrested three suspects around 12pm on Tuesday (07 May) afternoon.

The suspects aged between 30 and 37 are due to appear at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

“Through a crime intelligence-driven operation, the suspects were observed as the information was that five suspects driving a Toyota Corolla robbed a man who was at the bank,” according to the national police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele.

He added that the suspects’ vehicle was spotted driving around Ells and Republic roads. The police stopped the vehicle and confronted the suspects, two ran away and the other three were arrested.

Makhubele said the suspects are still being profiled as they are suspected to be involved in other serious and violent crimes.

“Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the police officers for work well done and edging the community to continue reporting a crime,” said Makhubele.

Police are searching for the suspects who are still at large and appeal to anyone who might have information that can assist with their arrest or in the investigation to please call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
