Winter warmer blanket drive

NORTHCLIFF – The project is a joint-venture between Heathway Centre, Pick n Pay Heathway, Northcliff Union Church and Northcliff Melville Times as part of our Caxton Cares initiative the month of May.

Pick n Pay Heathway have geared up for the May blanket drive as part of their local community social investment.

They have increased the reach of this project by partnering with the Heathway Centre, Northcliff Union Church and Northcliff Melville Times, through our Caxton Cares initiative, to collect blankets for the month of May.

The different drop-off points will be at Pick n Pay Heathway, Heathway Centre, Northcliff Union Church, Northcliff Melville Times offices (368 Jan Smuts Avenue, Craighall and 1187 Cornelius Street, Weltevreden Park) and Northcliff High School.

Operations manager at Heathway Centre Clive van Rooyen said the blanket drive will end on 31 May when the total count of the blankets collected will be done and transported to the Northcliff Union Church. They will have an outreach on Saturday, 1 June.

Editor of Northcliff Melville Times, Aimee McGill, said, “We, as Northcliff Melville Times, are happy to throw our name behind this project. Winter is already in the air, with nights getting colder. Helping those who are less fortunate than we are is our privilege, and we would like to encourage all of our readers to take part in this campaign, and donate a blanket. Although you will likely never know the recipient personally, you certainly will change their life, and that is the aim of this project.”

The blankets that are collected will be donated to the Abraham Kriel Orphanage, Marang House and Tshepo Community Development Initiative.
