The learners, staff and parents of Reddford House rolled up their sleeves to donate blood to those that need it most.
When the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) visited the school on 7 May, the school has already set up a hall for them and pleaded with their learners to attend, donate and encourage others to do the same. The learners did exactly that as they gave much need blood donations to SANBS.
A first-time blood donor, Grade 11 learner Toni Lobai, shared why it was such a glorious day. “I’ve always wanted to but my weight stopped me. So I made sure I ate and when I hit the minimum weight I knew I was ready.”
Lobai was nervous but with the support of her friends and school mates, she got through the process and even shared a laugh as soon as it was done.
The SANBS thanked the school for supporting them and hope to will be back soon. They are still calling on members of the public to continue donating blood. They stated that anyone that meets the following requirements is urged to save the lives of others by donating blood as any times as possible.
